let’s weave, us fey
toward the hall
mugs to the sky
a divine new day
for his kin all
‘tis it nigh?

dost it matter
whence it fetch up?
twelfth hour soon
teeth a-chatter
fill thy cups
and bless the wounds

raise thine eyes
and give thy kin
some ginger beer
loosen bowties
and drink it in
be of good cheer

more ginger here
for pearly grins
and rosy-faced dolls
the kingdom’s near
let’s drown in sin
slake thy thirsting soul

the shepherd came
among we lambs
all rod and druthers
we cried his name
undamn us damned!
call us true lovers

we sisters be
and grandmas too
aunts, mothers, friends
fiddle-de-dee
all flowers askew
enchant us ‘til night’s end

always forgive
as quick thoust can
lest there’s no ’morrow
too late not to live
hold up thine hands
give him all sorrow

  2. Tony, I love this, “Rapture party”, wow! The entire poem is wonderful, I especially like the repeat stanza:

    “more ginger here
    for pearly grins
    and rosy-faced dolls
    the kingdom’s near
    let’s drown in sin
    slake thy thirsting soul”

    It’s fun to see you out of your element (photos and comics), but it appears that you’re not out of your element at all! Great! — Pepperanne

      I don't know why, but this poem reminded me some of your masterpieces… Picking Ponies or Tanqueray… This throbbing rhythm, these sparkling scenes… It's amazing!
      Tony is a great poet (though he tries to deny this fact!) 😉

    • You both are very kind, and it humbles me. Thank you. I have refrained from visiting many poetry blogs so far because I feel like poetry is not something I’m very good at, and seeing so many other fantastic poets out there can be quite intimidating! However, having read some of your poetry, Pepperanne, and some of yours too, Un, and knowing how excellent your work is… well, your compliments blow me away. Thank you thank you thank you… 🙂
