GUEST POST // You Know This (Word) by Madam Marmoset (with Tetiana Aleksina & Tony Single)

Labels are not for people
Mores change and fade
No matter how we do it
Twixt the rainbow and the rain

Hear my refrain, hunter
Learn to differ targets
I am not a rabid beast
I am a human free

We’ve lost touch with our hearts
Our identities are rubber stamped
Society dictates our self worth
And we willingly eat the crap

Hear my refrain, hunter
Learn to differ targets
I am not a rabid beast
I am a human free

Whatever you are inside
However your heart beats
That’s where you’ll find your tribal groove
So let’s just call it what it is…

  1. Labels are just mechanisms for the weak minded. They can neither handle an open thinker, nor have a rational thought process to talk to a nonconformist. If you do not agree(think as they do), then you must be deconstructed and shifted into a herd below there thinking status in order for their shallow self esteem to not crack, and feel some control over what you obviously are. An ugly weakness and fear that over shadows ignorance from a poor self-important arrogance. Like in therapy when asked, how do rate yourself today from 1-10, I always say “Fuck you, I am not a number, do not label me or try to stick me in some group you think I am similar too. You know my name, I am sitting in front of you. I am ! Address me like a human being or kiss my ass while I’m walking out.” I will not listen to “well you are bipolar so.. you have a drug past so..” If you are only as smart as someone else’s words from a book you read, you are an idiot and will never understand, know or help anyone. Knowledge leads to intelligence, Intelligence leads to wisdom, wisdom leads to understanding, understanding with observation brings transcendence.

    • I have to say, I really appreciate your comment on this particular poem. I think you’ve cut right to the heart of the thing, and there’s really nothing I can add. Understanding and transcendence… now those are very much worth striving for, don’t you think?
