THE CRUMBCAST // It’s All Just a Bad Dream

Podcasts are the kind of thing one does when one is bored and looking for a purpose in life. I’m not so certain that I’ve found that purpose, nor am I certain that the episode you’re about to hear is the best I’ve ever done. Actually, it’s probably the worst, so consider yourself warned.

(I strongly suspect that I need another human being to talk to during these things! Hopefully, I can make that happen…)

Anyhow, this latest Crumbcast is about dreams, an unmentionable sex act, and going off script. Someone please wake me up!

PS: This is a bit strange, but if you want to listen to the sound then you should click on the picture below. Yes, it’s real magic in the digital world, I tell ya!

  1. Okay, I loved this….you are sooooooo funny and engaging and entertaining…and I love the philosophical bent as well. Seriously, you have a real knack for making even spontaneous rambling fun and time very well spent…I also appreciate that we get to learn new things about you….TMI at its finest in some cases, and that is really amusing…your delivery is also charming. Take care and I wish you the best in 2018 🙂

  2. Loved this podcast. It was so refreshing that you kept all the real life imperfections of the creative process. Shades of Molly Meldrum at his mumbling, stumbling best. And as for people who say they don’t dream, they probably just can’t remember. Now that is sad.

    • Molly Meldrum! Now that’s high praise indeed! I always enjoyed his rambling style. And I kinda agree with you actually. It’s kind of a waste of a good dream if you can’t remember it, am I right? 😛

  3. For me, it’s not the format, it’s the TIME. I can read faster than anyone can talk, and information seems to “stick” better when I read (not so much when I listen). THEN, when the phone rings (etc), it’s tough to “bookmark” my place. So there are only a few podcasts I follow and actually listen to. But if you love to do them, that’s reason enough, right?

BTW- I don’t recall my dreams (or dreaming at all, for the most part – just a fact, not included as a badge of honor or shame). It seems to depend on when one awakens, according to the science (which of the four phases of sleep). I spend most of my time in deep sleep, which seems to wipe away memories of REM sleep.

But yes, as one who’s researched sleep more extensively than most, sleep is indeed a very ACTIVE state, brain-wise – and *nobody* knows yet exactly what purposes it serves. We can only make educated guesses studying those who are purposely sleep deprived. From those we’ve learned that we don’t do well – physically or mentally – when we are suffering from what is now called “sleep debt.”

  4. I co-host a podcast, and I have found that sometimes you just have to go for it. I like that you have the courage to just let yourself talk, without a script. We always put a disclaimer on our podcast because we also take the stream-of-consciousness approach. I will be listening to more from you!

    • Seriously, you have just made my day with your vote of confidence. Thanks so much! (I had a look to see if I could find your podcast. I must be blind because I couldn’t find it. I’d really love to have a listen!) 🙂

  5. It is a shame that Podcasts are one way, cast to the thousand, cast to the wind. so to speak. But! would an interactive podcast just be chatter? In a digital world do you know if anyone is listening and is it rude if they switch the podcast off half-way through?
