THE CRUMBCAST // Atheism and Other Religions

This is the Crumbcast where I introduce myself as Tiny instead of Tony. Freudian slip or just a slip of the tongue? You be the judge.

So, anyway, it’s Pete and I having a good ol’ chinwag again, and this time the subject is religion and atheism. We reckon that these can sometimes be the same thing. Now, there may be those of you don’t like what we say regarding this, but we hope you’ll stick around and join in on the conversation in the comments section below.

PS: To listen to the podcast in question then please click on that picture down there. To view the comic strip that our discussion centres around, then please click here. Yes, it’s real magic in the digital world, I tells ya! No pesky sciencey stuff here!

  1. Interesting topic, I spent most of my youth looking for answers, the one thing I kept coming back too, and Im not judging these are just my experiences, most “christians” or structured religions seem to be more about what we can do for tgem than what they do for us. I was lucky to be raised to ask questions! Although it did lead me to some interesting places it has never failed me. I married a good catholic, both my children were baptised catholic as was I after my marriage, but it was at this important point that I discovered the intolerance and ideals did not jive with my core values or beliefs. I dont need a church to pray! How ever the more I learned the less appealing it became ti tie myself to something that may or may not be true! I am now a practicing High Priestess who believes you dont need religion to have morals

    • I definitely agree with you there. In fact, I’d even go one step further and say that religion isn’t really needed for much of anything at all. Thank you so much for popping by and reading us! 😀

  2. Think I qualify as atheist. After 9 years of catholic school? I think I’m allowed. I confess to say when people get very “Preachy” I hit delete. I don’t need to be convinced either way. People can believe what they like but I try to make the world a better place a little every day and I don’t beed to go to church to do it? Cheers,H

  3. Sadly I can tell you that I’ve had a similar experience as your friend. I grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness and I was flat out told once before I left for good “You aren’t authorized to study other religions or materials outside the Discreet and Faithful Slave,” the Discreet and Faithful Slave is what their leadership at the very top is called.

I couldn’t believe that now I needed permission just to study or learn something new. And I began to think “If you’re so afraid we’d learn of things outside your group, what are you hiding?,”

As it turned out, it was a lot. I spent a few years as an Agnostic just doing my own thing. Finally, a few paranormal experiences shocked the faith into me. Hence how I got to be where I am now. I may actually write about my experiences in that religion one day. It was a doozy.

But on another point, I think when a group mind becomes too empowered versus the individual mind, you just end up being assimilated into the Borg 😂. I often piss off my own little groups because I refuse to agree with everything they do.

So finally I formed my own label, the weird and deranged group! Hmm maybe just WDG for short? 🤔 Let me work on that and get a few lawyers to copy write it,

    • Hi M, I grew up in a secular household and entered into Christianity of my own accord. Not the best decision I’ve ever made, and one that was made for entirely emotional reasons. I’m glad to be out of all of that now, and I like that you no longer let people tell you what to think or believe. It’s taken me a long time to get to that point myself, and it’s a hard won freedom that I will defend to my last breath. So glad you get where we’re coming from with our discussion here.

    • I’m sorry to hear that brother. Growing up I was bullied and I let the “trend setters” tell me how I should believe at school. Then it was my family telling me what to believe at home. Then it was a series of brooding “cool” exes (Christ, I’ve had better conversations with corpses in the cemetery) telling me what my point of view and way of life should be. Long story short, I got tired of trying to please everybody but myself. I learned to open a can of “Fuckitall” a long time ago.

I learned that it’s better to be alone than with bad company as the old Spanish saying goes. Besides, the path of the magician in witch circles is often the path of the “heretic’ or the outcast. We piss people off even in our own community lol. And I learned that no matter what, I’m never truly alone. Besides my animals, I have weird little adventures with friends at bars, at occult gatherings, shit even at fetish parties 🤣😅.

Hence why my blog is called “Adventures of a Mage in Miami” because this shit would only happen to us. Hmmm perhaps I should write about the time my friend Paul and I almost drove to the Everglades because we got lost on the way home after watching “Ghost Rider” 🤔

I think the Muses hath responded to my divine offerings of Alcohol! But…..I’m tired as fuck tonight. Maybe I’ll write it later 😂 cheers Amigo!

    • I would definitely read your ‘Ghost Rider’ story, M. Sounds wild! As for opening that can of ‘Fuckitall’, that’s something I wish I’d learned how to do at a much younger age. Better late than never, I suppose… 😛

    • Amen (pun intended) the reason mainstream religions are losing so much ground is because they’re too rigid and refuse to evolve. They’re too concerned with stupid things like whether or not you wait for marriage to have sex. If you’re gay or if you’re straight. Do you pray enough. Then they terrorize people with fear of some kind of otherwordly punishment.

If your God or Goddess is one of love why should you fear them then? Also notice, they seem to have an unhealthy obsession with sex. I mean Zeus is one of my Gods. You’d think he’d be all about sex. He isn’t. We mostly converse in visions about issues in my life.

It’s like having therapy actually. He’s led me down a wise path and is a good father. My atheist friends say it’s just my psyche. Everytime I pray asking for help, my bills get paid. Issues in my life get better.

Outside forces I can’t control with “positive thinking” are changed. If that’s all me, maybe I should make a cult. I’ll demand worship like those crazy Jim Jones people.
Ah yes, I see it now. I will declare everyday as Pizza day.

And I shall have all Fridays be Limbo parties at the beach in honor of…..Me 😂🤣

    • Don’t worry, I will use my “psyche” to manifest a storm that will cause you and Tati flying through the air like Mary Poppins to appear!

Then, we shall have tea with the Mad Hatter and ask why he appeared like a Gay clown when Johnny Depp played him on the screen. Me thinks we have a closet case dear sirs…..
