make your dogmatic statements
fluff your tail
you, who prefer understatement
and always fail
your beautiful love clique
it twists the knife
so i’ve learned not to look
i wanted to be one of you
but you made me a heretic
leave this moebius food chain
fill the blanks
you, who’s accustomed to refrain
can’t break the bank!
you likeminded super beings in
your plush echo chamber of
gonging egos make me sick
you make me want to grub for
transcendence in dirt (and i have to)
stop your lazy genetic drift
cut a strip
don’t count on the allel shrift
evolve, crip!
there’s pluck and plesh inside me
and the horizon is within my reach
you’ve forced me to evolve or die
so in the end it doesn’t matter
i’ll be gone and you won’t find me

Wow. Good old DNA. You two really went to town with this one. Hard hitting and with such a fever that I think my finger tips felt the flame. Awesome work.

Thank you, Annie! Yeah, Tati added some much needed punch to this one. Her contribution was invaluable. 🙂

I really like your collaborations, and I like that they make me do some work. I also like that I get a few days to sit with them before the next one. I usually eat one course of a meal too soon after another when they’re put on the table at the same time, and end up digesting things poorly.
This sounds like a negative cycle escaped –moebius food chain, the echo-chamber of a knife-wielding love-clique that attacks its own– but I’m trying to figure out whether the issue that “broke the bank”, and which was the catalyst for exit from the moebius iron-maiden echo chamber, was the recognition of evolutionary ancestry, or whether leaving itself was the evolution, or both. It’s not clear whether the transcendence in dirt is a charge leveled to expose the concealed truth in high claims, or an avenue of escape from the moebius strip. Also, not clear about whether there are two voices or one — or whether the “heads and tails” are indicative that these two-voices-difficult-to-separate are really indicative that one is so moebiusly trapped even in the escape.
I don’t think I want you to answer all of my questions, or even any of them, because I’ll read this again several times, certainly. A real treat. If you nudge me in a direction, though, you’ll add gratitude to my already-assured pleasure. 😀

Wow. I’m floored by your in-depth analysis of this collaboration, Gregory! In accordance with your wishes, I won’t answer your questions but I will say this much… every single thing you’ve said in your comment is actually a valid reading of the poem. Yes, we certainly meant for it to encompass all of the themes and ideas you touched upon. I’m so glad that you picked up on most of them! 😀

Ha ha ha…this is great. A more acerbic variety of call and response chanting. I can imagine you both sitting on cushions disdainfully intoning.

Laughing. That is the cool thing about writing. Being able to release our anger in words. It was good.
