nukes & lattes

white foam and grey ash
on the brim of my tumbler
a plated mushroom head
with poppy seeded tundra
radioactive pine nuts
scattered over snack dish
an off-white triangle
its perforations kissed
lo, i drink to the health
of whomever killed him

  1. Your poem, “nukes & lattes,” carries a profound and thought-provoking message within its brevity. The juxtaposition of the everyday imagery of a latte with the grim reality of nuclear destruction is both striking and haunting. It speaks to the way our mundane routines can coexist with the weight of significant world events, often in a state of detachment or indifference. Your words invite readers to reflect on the consequences of our actions and the indifference that can permeate society in the face of such profound issues. Powerful and evocative work. 📜☕🌌
