  1. When I first read the poem I had problems to understand some of the words being English my third language. I had to look them up. I think Tati’s language is elevated, elaborate, musical and very beautiful. It resonates, yes. The way the life of the aweary larva is being described reminds me of any being on Earth, whether animal or human, that is suffering from oppression, exploitation, lack of freedom… I think, but this is just my personal association, the poem could be a simile for any of those things. Example: Some minutes ago I was listening to a radio podcast with the founder of the US movement Black Lives Matter, Alicia Garza, telling that every 24 hours the police or the vigilantes are killing a black person. I immediately thought that Garza and all these people supporting this movement and any movement against any human or animal injustice are like the aweary larva. We all need to “unsnap our chest”, “which hampers breathing.”

    • Your reading of this poem is actually quite accurate. Those are certainly some of the themes that Tati meant to evoke in her poem, so she’s going to be quite delighted to know that these came through as clearly as they did. Thanks so much for reading, and for your insights! 🙂
