In truth I haven’t a clue what I’m reading but what the hell I’m liking it for the way you make words dance, its sheer energy

Both of you are my heroes! To me, I interpret this poem as a Dada form. Which by the way is pure brilliance from you both.
My favorite lines: she flicked the worms up beneath creeping skies
to light my way, twining back to her side
like wriggle-stars mining the coalface gloaming
The visuals in this poem wrap me around to comfortably. 🙂

Hey, Sir Charles, we absolutely adore having you here. It’s always a delight to read your impressions on our silly little words! Seriously, it’s so cool that the visuals we paint really appeals to you. We feel like this is one of our strengths as writers so it means a lot! 😀

You both are welcome. 🙂
If I can ask you guys something. If you ever make a YouTube video of something strange. Please include my name in it as a reference. I want to laugh hard. 🙂 hahahaha!!!!

Ha ha ha ha ha! What a brilliant idea! How about you ask a question for Button to answer? He’d love to do that, my friend! 😉

Okay, here’s my Question to Button.
If one feels like their being lied to. How many lies does it take to get to the center of the lie chocolate?
hahahaha!!!!

Love this question! I’ll queue it up for the next installment. 😉

This is really excellent, Tony. So evocative, and very faithful to the form of what I’ve known about relationship troubles, to the sense-of-what-it’s-like in despairing and frustration. The worm theme is easy for lesser souls to take up on the cheap; using it as masterfully as you’ve done is a severe challenge, one that –no surprise– you’re clearly meet for. Thank you!
May the birds take the worms away — only, not the worms that are ourselves.

Gregory, as usual you see to the ‘guts’ of a thing (if I can put it so indelicately for a moment). Yes, I think you have the full measure of what we’re saying here.
Relationships are hard, and they require a lot of work and a lot of humility. Specifically, in this case it can be tough for men to own the wrong they’ve done by their significant others. Of course, it does go both ways but I fear that men are still stuck in that simplistic, emotionless, macho-machine mode that society unfortunately pushes them into from the time they’re little boys.
Sadly, the ‘ideal model’ is really still just so much acting like a little boy.

So I was thinking that some of these lines sounded –definitely sounded– like Tati, perhaps from its associations with her “I get home and unsnap my ribcage and slither around on the floor like a slug” poem she wrote awhile back that I still often think about. I see from a glance at the comments that she WAS involved in baking this one.
So I want to see a ridiculous Crumble Cult sequence where the two of you are collaborating on a poem. I don’t care whether it achieves any kind of mimesis. If it’s the product of your collaboration, it’ll do just fine. 😀

Well, now that you mention it… 😉
And, yes, Tati has such a distinctive voice that it’s a joy to see it shine even within the body of a collaboration!
Frankly, she’s irrepressible in the best possible way! 😀

It’s good that she’s irrepressible — repression isn’t a very good route now, is it? ;-p
Gardening is the way. Take that urge and sculpt it, or transmute it — like into poetry. 😀

Hm. Could we build sandcastles on the beach instead? I think that would possibly be more our style. 😛

It is kind of sad, isn’t it? But don’t worry, M. We’re all here sharing our creativity with one another so that can only be a good thing! Thank you for visiting. We really appreciate your support! 😀

this is an amazing line – “every language has its hidden soul” – may I add ? and if you listen with yours you will hear the ancient screams when it tried to form coherent sound.

I’m glad you picked up on that, my friend. Yes, this was Tati’s line and I was immediately struck by it when I read it! 😀

Oh so it was a collaboration! Awesome one tony! And Tati if you are reading this that was a gem, makes me think a little off the straight line. I read on another post that both of you made it to Georgetown in Penang, was nice to read that one and that you both had a great time there, my father’s birthplace and I went there every year till I was about 18. Maybe next time both of you will come back again to Malaysia and maybe go to the east coast this time.

Hi, Gina! I’m so sorry for my late reply.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, I collaborate with Tony a lot, and it’s always a pure joy to clank our creative efforts together… as well as visiting your wonderful country. We had a great time in Malaysia, and were really enchanted of its unique culture and beauty.
The poem about our time there is one of our favorites, it’s a special poem for us. Of course, we would be very happy to visit Malaysia again and explore its hidden gems some more!

So well-written and entertaining, plus a new word to learn: hyperēphania, from the Greek meaning disdain, pride, haughtiness, arrogance. Did I get it right??? As always all the best to you w/joy, peace and happiness!

You absolutely did get it right, Jonathan, but that doesn’t surprise me. 😉 Thank you so much for reading us as always. It’s a joy to write when we know peeps such as yourself will be swinging by to witness the results. 😀

I like this. The last line is terrific

Thank you, Sarada. The last line was completely Tati’s work. It was her idea to loop the poem back to the beginning in this way. 😀
