I can relate to this on a personal level, having been in the past the kinda person who used to shy away from every opportunity to expose her heart and all the feelings in case she gets hurt. But now that you’ve said it, it’s equally true that other people might do the same or maybe the exact opposite either to shield themselves or to heal themselves.

I sense a time travel theme.

A struggle of time traveling where and where one ends can cause a chain of events of one does not make it in time.
