There comes a time
for taking stock
of what one’s had
and what one’s got,
of where one’s going
and where one’s been,
of what one’s heard
and what one’s seen.
You know the games,
you’ve learnt the rules,
you can tell the wisemen
from the fools,
you’ve learned that all’s
not as it seems,
that life is both
reality and dreams,
and like the tides
that ebb and flow,
life’s sometimes fast
and oft’ times slow.
To survive the storm
a tree must bend,
and a new day starts
where this one ends.

Well I didn’t realize this was written by somebody else. It reminds me of the passage in the Bible Ecclesiastes chapter 3. Thank you, it is just beautiful.

Oh my goodness, this is the first time my late father’s writing has been put out into the world but someone other than myself!!! I am buzzing, but also a little tearful. We read this poem of his at his funeral. My dear old Dad would be absolutely delighted. Thank you, lovely Tati and Tony! ❤

I’m so glad you shared it in the first place. It really struck a chord with us, so we absolutely had to share it too! We felt it would really capture other people’s hearts. Your father’s words live on. 🙂
