Yes. It’s so clear they have drifted apart to the point that they have labeled each other–a point it’s difficult to return from. And who knows what each is really like. Is she independent or unable to accept love? Is he loving or clingy? And “tuts” and “whispers” speak volumes, too.
It really is nearly perfect. Every word makes you ask questions.
