Oops!… We Did It Again (the bobblehead’s pilgrimage)

Erm… hullo there. (This is rather awkward…)

  1. monkey love many allusion in poem of tony single & favorite line = i’ve hitchened my ride to a dawkinian screed. very very cool with cleverness. Man say that = the road he travel along & that road = difficult. but loving along the way help.

  2. There may be words beyond me yet every line absorbed, for me none more than the breath taking simplicity of:
‘i’ve stood at the stop awaiting the last bus
for release but suddenly you took my flawed hand
and led me away from the platform’
This more than good, I feel a touch a genius.

  3. And the wonderful thing about love isn’t just that it so often triumphs over adversity: the truly wonderful thing is – sometimes – it triumphs over our own uncertainty. Beautifully wrought poem of profound truths. Thank you.

  4. Oh My, Tony–so much in this!! Fabulous poem. I’m guessing you probably don’t want me to comment on the ‘religious’ aspects, but I can’t keep from saying that I know God’s love is HUGE. He loves me like crazy, and I know He loves you too 🙂 I love your poetry, and your collaborations–Again, Fabulous!

    • Aw, thank you, Azul. You can speak about anything you want here. We don’t censor people for talking about what they truly believe in! 🙂

As for the religious themes, our intent was never to offend (not that I’m suggesting you’re offended). The poem was more an exploration of how a love unencumbered by religion or philosophy (or any other kind of belief for that matter) can so often end up feeling more meaningful.

Of course, that’s merely our take on it. The beauty of a place like WordPress is that we can all agree to disagree. It’s about the writing after all, and I for one am glad to have the support of people like yourself, Azul! 🙂

    • You’re very generous, and I appreciate you–and your writing, and interaction with readers. I have a tendency to respond too personally, thinking that what I’ve read is a personal reflection of the author’s heart at the moment–rather than reading it just as a poem which “offers an exploration”. It’s the “maternal heart” in me 🙂

    • That’s the thing, Azul… there ARE times when it’s a personal reflection. And, to be fair to you, there are indeed some personal aspects in this poem such as in the first and fourth stanza. I’ve lived those things. 😉
