A captivating post. You say a ghost of yourself. This piece reads as if written by a ghost. Thus the voice that haunts with words that haunt.

Thank you! Yes, I certainly meant to evoke the sense of a ghost having written this, so you were spot on in that regard! 🙂

I would love to ask some English students to analyse “I numbly twig to the Horned God’s clopping.” It reminded me of “T’was brillig and the slithy tove…” Words can be so musical. I’m getting used to your style, at last.

Aw, thanks, Julie. I admit my work can be a bit of an acquired taste, and certainly not for everyone. I am rather pleased that you’ve managed to click with it though. Thanks so much! 🙂

Your words were perfect. The rhythm smooth. You make it look easy, while in truth you worked magic.

I’m flattered that you think I make it look easy, Rose. Truly! Honestly though? This was probably one of the most difficult to write poems in a long time. I wasn’t even sure what the structure of it was going to be until it finally fell into place in the eleventh hour. 😛

That’s the beauty of your skill: the greater the expertise, the simpler the execution appears. In other words, you are a great talent.

You’ve got me blushing now. 😛

Oh, I’m serious. Talent may be the bud, but hard work is what makes talent bloom.

Truly, Rose, thank you. That you see the hard work that goes into something like this means a lot. 🙂

Interesting, well-written poem. I read, alienation, “haunting my own life,” “who was ever there…”

Alan, you’re right on the money. I’m glad these themes came across at all as I was getting a bit worried for a while there. 😛

This seems perfect for audio … whose voice … Russell Crowe? … someone a little edgy? … you?

I’m about as edgy as a marshmallow, I’m afraid, so it would have to be someone else. Lemme see… How about Nick Cave? He’d be the perfect choice, I’m thinking. 😛
