novitiate

a girl sits above the river
her hair golden in the sun
eyes silver beneath the moon

coins scatter to the shallows
more wishes for rippling stars
& water striders in the gloom

her song flows with milk & honey
something about faraway lands
blest by radiant summers thrice

is myrtle the plant or her name
is she fertility’s virgin maid
or is she a mere whore for christ

who will know, let’s leave her alone
let her sit above the river
singing her inscrutable song

TATI’s & TONY’s DEAD POET TOUR // A Valentine [From A Very Little Boy To A Very Little Girl] by Arthur Macy

This is a valentine for you.
Mother made it. She’s real smart,
I told her that I loved you true
And you were my sweetheart.

And then she smiled, and then she winked,
And then she said to father,
“Beginning young!” and then he thinked,
And then he said, “Well, rather.”

Then mother’s eyes began to shine,
And then she made this valentine:
“If you love me as I love you,
No knife shall cut our love in two,”
And father laughed and said, “How new!”
And then he said, “It’s time for bed.”

So, when I’d said my prayers,
Mother came running up the stairs
And told me I might send the rhymes,
And then she kissed me lots of times.
Then I turned over to the wall
And cried about you, and – that’s all.

gotcha! (snake vs. mongoose girl)

you hiss, “you won’t find me”
and hide in the long grass
like the snake that you are

your coils seek to bind me
i plod through the morass
holding my plastic jar

boo! i get behind thee
you’ll surely try to pass
but i won’t let you get far

GUEST POST // The girl who vomited diamonds by Nath B-Side

Nobody saw how special she was
Nobody valued her qualities
Nobody realised her strengths,
Nobody comprehend her speech.

Some people think she was too old to be young.
Some people was sure of that.

Some people wanted to take off her peace.
But peace was her second name.
It was her. Herself.

She wasn’t more special than anybody. She was just different.
Life made her this way
and
she didn’t know how to be like the others.

While she was walking, thinking, reading …
people …. People was living.
Leaving her alone because they couldn’t understand her.

She was not the best company to celebrate because she wasn’t the happier.
She was a desired company in bed but she prefered to be bad.

While people was having a hangover… She was sleeping and
dreaming
dreaming she was vomiting diamonds.

how to explain life to a live girl

they walk around the room cuddling a dead hare
smearing the floor with stale syrupy gold
they cry out loud that awakening is here
exactly as beuys has foretold

i lie on the floor trying not to sleep
but the damned gold flashes before my eyes
here i balance over the greasy steep
falling through the creaky rickety skies

and i see in my dream how a huge dead hare
cuddles me to its soft warm belly
runs its paws over my messy hair
treats me to marmite and orange jelly

the hare whispers of shoes and sealing wax
of shooting stars over the seashore
that a worldview’s a matter of parallax
…i wake up to the sound of a slammed door
